  1. Luke says:

    Finally!
I was still worried til you made this comic.
Teach your kids to draw this and pass on your legacy.

  2. NMmatt says:

    The sweet poetry of self-inspiration…

  3. gruff says:

Wait – I thought Maakies had been cancelled?

  4. Brandt says:

I like the sharp, slightly demented look in the “creator’s” eye. Do not mess with our hero, one bad-ass ink-slinger for the masses.

  5. DadaHyena says:

Keep on drinking and drawing and setting a good example for the kiddies!

  6. Johan says:

I love reading the Maakies more than anything.

  7. Ryan says:

Someone tell Tony Millionaire the strip is cancelled

  8. Rick says:

Just listened to the interview on Maron’s podcast, it made me feel good. Keep fighting the good fight.

  9. John M. says:

Just when I was going to start a bootleg Maakies, too. Smacked!

  10. Jpdoucet says:

Breathing a sigh of great relief, I can now resume my vague plan of relearning how to draw over the coming winter.

Inspired by the idea of creating a plethora of MaKKies bootlegs. They would of course be “Officially Disdained” by Tony Millionaire. The marketing spiel would exhort the purchasing public to pay lower prices for knockoffs to support one of the 99% starving artists, namely myself, over the 1% Millionaire artiste.

This would be better than the treacly tribute strip where Richard Harris is dragged out of his grave to sing the reworked lyrics of “MacArthur’s Park”:

Ma-akie’s Barque is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green grog flowing down
Someone left the cask out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
‘Cause it took so long to draw it
And we’ll never have that comic strip again
    Oh, no!
    Oh, no
    No, no
    OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

This of course would probably be worse than just having a heart attack.
    heh heh.

I think that R. Crumb beat you to it ! His bible in pictures had to be given an “R” rating.

Frankly, I prefer the “Sunday Pix”.
